um. please name me one benefit or service to which one is entitled on
producing a driver's license only.  I triple dog dare ya :) I can't
think of *one.* Around here you can't even get medical care from the
university hospital without discussing immigration status. Illegal
aliens *are* entitled to send their children to public schools, but I
think the ID required is for the children.

You seem to be saying that minimum wage earners don't buy insurance.
Is this considered a good enough reason for legal residents not to
have it? There's a stiff fine in most states if I am not mistaken,
regardless of income level or nationality. While sure, some illegals
won't buy insurance anyway, why give them an excuse not to do so by
making it impossible?

This proposal will mean more paperwork for everyone to no benefit
except to the lawmakers who are seens as "doing something." It would
be better to institute cross-references between birth and death
records, and to tighten up security around birth certificates. And,
perhaps, to hire a few more Border Patrol guys.
