I've always taken that fact for granted when stating "man evolved from apes". To the religious fundamentalist though, this distinction means nothing. Either way, it refutes their fundamentalist dogma, no matter how you phrase it.
As to the letter I wrote that started this, I received a response back today from one of the board members. I haven't researched yet whether this is one of the conservatives or not, but his response was basically "you are referring to talks that haven't occurred yet, you need to research how we do business before commenting" What a dick. > Man didn't evolve from apes.
