Great points on race - as I understand, basically a "race" can't be
defined by DNA, but "lines" can correct? That is, a family tree can
be identified by certain genetic characteristics that they share, but
others lack.

For example, I've read that some survivors of the black plague contain
a gene that has made their decendents immune from both the 1918 flu
and AIDS.

So while it's true that race doesn't appear genetic as such, family
lines do share unique genes and so can be traced. As you say, whether
we call those families or lines a "race" is up to academia and
individuals.

In any event it does appear to mean that the African "black jews"
share the same genetic line as the european jews and at some point
that line seperated. Evolution appears to have created the skin color
difference while it didn't have much effect on their social customs.
