Just wanted to throw my .02 into this. I guess this is a sliding rule,
taking into account inflation and all though. It's my philosophy though.

If someone is paid less than $10(US)/hour  dont expect them to take the job
seriously or give 100%. These days it is not possible to live off less. Your
employer knows it as much as you do, and by extension they do not respect
the employee by offering what is less than a living wage. I may need to take
a job that pays less, but I would never respect the employer for the
original insult of offering such a low wage.

You get what you pay for. It's just a fact of life.
