In my opinion, you need to live for a long duration in a 3rd world country... maybe then, you would appreciate the freedoms we have in this country.

Ashcroft and his interest groups have been wanting to pass draconian laws such as these for some time now. September 11th gave them their excuse. You are most correct, to hell with the rights of the American people, to hell with the Constitution. Ashcroft thinks people in America had too much freedom to begin with, remember? I wonder when Lieberman will continue after the Entertainment Industry and Computer Games? -Gel -----Original Message----- From: Todd [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Saturday, November 10, 2001 3:04 AM To: CF-Community Subject: Re: U.S. Will Monitor Calls to Lawyers Pardon my language, but fuck the US Department of Justice. "Attorney General John D. Ashcroft approved the eavesdropping rule on an emergency basis last week, without the usual waiting period for public comment. It went into effect immediately, permitting the government to monitor conversations and intercept mail between people in custody and their attorneys for up to a year at a time." Nice due-process assholes. Screw the lawyers and screw the American peoples' right to decide. Boy, the government is 3 for 3 on major rights issues vs the American people so far this year. 10 points for the terrorists. "According to a summary published in the Federal Register Oct. 31, the monitoring will be conducted without a court order whenever the attorney general certifies 'that reasonable suspicion exists to believe that an inmate may use communications with attorneys or their agents to facilitate acts of terrorism.'" ooooooh .. no court order. Certifies to who? Nice power play As(shole)hcroft. I see .. so now we are saying screw the *entire* judicial system. America isn't even in the hands of the lawyers anymore my goodness .. never thought I would see that happen. 30 points to the terrorists. "Records of clearly privileged information, such as a discussion about a client's defense, will not be retained by the monitors, the department said. 'Apart from disclosures necessary to thwart an imminent act of violence or terrorism, any disclosures to investigators or prosecutors must be approved by a federal judge,' it added." We all know this is a lie. They are going to track and record every little thing they can. It's too big of a temptation not to do so. 20 points to the terrorists. "Murphy, who is director of the ACLU's Washington national office, agreed, saying, 'the idea that this could be happening to innocent people is really disturbing.' A lawyer's effectiveness, she added, can be dramatically diminished if the government is listening in, making a client fearful of disclosing all that the attorney needs to know to mount a forceful defense." So, now it's even easier to potentialy screw over our own citizens. 10 more points for thr terrorists. That's 70 so far .. a passing score. Hmm .. in addition to wiretapping, they should shove a camera up everyone's ass too. Sound *and* video .. gotta cover all the bases, you know (besides, I bet Ashcroft likes that ass-vision, since he seems to enjoy screwing people so much.). Fuck the whole US government for allowing this stuff to go on. I'll be writing my government officials in the morning .. not that it will do a damn bit of good ... I'm afraid I don't have as much money as the RIAA, or Microsoft, or AOL, or whatever. Todd ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox.
