Not that young, those words didn't get popular until later, we were having too much fun saying the bad words. Fag and Gay weren't really considered bad words, and we really didn't know what they meant.
We always got a chuckle cause the State Anthem has the line the "children are gay", but that was about it, and we knew that word had a double meaning.
