And, personally, I don't believe State should mess with: 1. Marriage 2. People's bedrooms.
And I think that is the sensible solution most moderates should be able to agree on. Seperate the STATE aspect from the RELIGIOUS aspect. The State defines a "union" that confers the state benifits of taxes, inhertance, power of attorny and all that, regardless of gender of the members. Religions can define their defination of "marriage." A couple can then seek the recognition of one and/or the other of these insitutions as they see fit.
