so single parents should not be allowed? Perhaps the child wants what is not attainable in the situation. If mom marries a guy who locks the kid in a closet as a routine form of discipline, is that child better off? It really all depends on the parent in question imho. And if they are of the same gender, to my mind, this matters not at all.
