I used the NY subway exclusively while there. No problems. I grew up riding the DC metro and hearing everyone talk about how great it is and expected the NY subway to completely suck in comparison, but it was a snap. Sure it wasn't as clean but it's old. The DC metro has gotten shabbier over the years too. This thread makes two soundbites go through my head: 1. Bing Bong (door closing sound) 2.
