I think you and Sam and I are the only people in this whose minds are
not utterly made up already. And maybe my theories are tabloid, but
yours are so Captain America :) I am saying that with affection mind
you :)

Listen someone, way back at the beginning of this asked me what I
thought and I answered them. No, I don't have enough information to
know really, but I am not a court of law. I am allowed to have an
opinion about public affairs or about a public figure without much
evidence to back it up. I am perfectly entitled to say for example
that I think that Michael Jackson is guilty or that Bush seems to
really really want to go to war with Iraq and seems to be really
really mistaken about what he will find there.

I started to write you a long answer going over the thing again, but
frankly I am sick of this too. However, I will assure you that

a) Michael Schiavo absolutely does fit the profile of an abusive
spouse, whether or not he caused his wife's injuries

b) there is credible medical doubt as to her condition

c) campaign donations do matter a great deal in the practice of law
and the outcome of court cases.

In my opinion it would have been far better to remove all doubt as to
her condition and his motives before we reached this point. Since we
aren't going that route, I am glad that an autopsy will be done and I
hope it will be done by someone objective. I also hope that we as a
country learn from this and find some better process for litigating
and resolving such cases.

It is shameful that this woman's life was perhaps lost against her
will due to her parents' naivete as to the legal system and the legal
system's corruption or naivete about medecine, take your pick.
