Thanks Dana, there is the poaching thing but the other issue here is that I
know of at least one PC on one of the networks that is WIDE OPEN and seeing
as all three networks are on 192.168.1.x ranges they are effectively all
exposing themselves to unwarranted risks of cross-infection etc... Imagine
if one of those routers dies, the owner may not notice as they will
automatically connect to one of the other wireless networks in the area with
full Internet access etc.. In fact they may not be connecting to their own
network at any given point anyway... I know depending on which room in the
house I'm in, the signal strengths for the three networks differ and the
laptop roams across them...

All the networks have DHCP enabled and all are 'always on' cable/dsl
connections. These people need educating.... Just think, as a software
developer, I have the need to run packet sniffing software from time to
time... These people probably do their banking over the wireless network and
leave their PCs wide open because they have not been educated to the dangers
of the wireless network phenomenon...

I feel like I should tell them... I guess I could go door to door and ask
them all telling them that their network is interfering with mine and they
need to enter a WEP key at the very least in order to fix it... That would
save face on all sides I guess...

With regards to Internet metering, it depends on your subscription whether
or not you are metered for internet access in the UK... Some services impose
limits that are very high and you'd be hard pushed to hit them anytime soon
whereas others impose tiny limits and lots of bandwidth so you hit the limit
every month... Thankfully our internet access is the former :)
