Why shouldn't we be talking about which tech is better?  If the goal
is MPG why not develop 100 MPG petrol engines?  That's easily doable
(actually it's been done).  Why not invest in bike trails and
protected bike lanes?  What about bio-diesel and other solutions like
fuel cells?

The problem with hybrids is that they do very little to solve any
problem, yet make people think they're doing something.  That's also
the good part: they generate conversation and get people thinking. 
(Just like Mr. Bush's private accounts)

My point is, hybrids are not a serious solution to any of the
environmental issues we face.
