That is the gas price, not the oil price. With an estimated efficiency of about 50% one barrel of oil is converted to 20 gallons. That 30 cent difference is the equivalent of 6 dollar movement on the oil market, which did not happen. Part of that money goes elsewhere. And I bet that the reported record margins in North American refinery have something to do with it. > A big part of our gas prices now has to do with Horse Racing, this is prime > racing season, the Kentucky Derby is May 7th and people are already starting > to gear up. I used to live on the 17th floor and from my window I could see 4 rerfineries in Rotterdam: Shell, Esso, Q8 and an independent one. I think there is also a BP refinery in Rotterdam but that was hidden behind an apartment building. > I don't think the dollar has as much to do with it Not with the gas price. But it has got a lot to do with the oil price. Just make a graph of the oil price in dollar, euro and yen over the last three year and see which price went up more then the other ones. > the price per barrel > goes up a little, and the gas price goes up disproportionably more.
