Tim, I'm sorry if I speak the obvious - but do they have any counseling available for you? It seems you and the family could really make use of some therapy. It's normal for the amount of time you've been gone and what your family has had to do to stay functioning without you. But if you all love each other and most important of all - TALK to each other, then this too shall pass and you'll all be the stronger for it.
Do your children understand what you did? What you went through? Why?
