I just finished it two weeks ago, and I have the exact same feelings that you did. The story was okay, it read like a perfect movie script (which I can't wait for, BTW), but for me, the best part was learning so much about the "other" side of the history of the Bible. It was fascinating, and while I won't take everything that a fictional book as, well, Bible, it really made a lot of sense. The way that the Catholic church was formed, how MM was shunned by them, etc. Just fascinating, is all I can say.
