On a related topic, just two months ago, one of my daughter's friends
was killed when he was speeding on a chip-and-seal-surface road. The
driver lost control at around 75mph and flew across the road,
over-corrected and went back across to his side of the road. He
continued through a ditch and caught a wire fence. The fence caused the
car to start flying and rolling.

Right before the accident, the three other boys in the car, including
the driver, told the fourth boy to put his seat belt on. He refused
saying he didn't need to.

The boy was thrown out of the back window when the car started rolling.
His parents made it to the scene and spent about half an hour with him
before he died. He was conscious and knew he was dying. The helicopter
got to the scene, but he died before they could air-lift him.

The other three boys all walked away from the accident and were at
school the next day. The school was so shook-up from the accident that
they cancelled classes for about two days.

That left a huge impression on my daughter so, after hitting the
corvette yesterday, I'm sure she realizes the importance of paying
attention and that no chances are worth taking.
