I am getting fed up with spam. I am currently just using the filter that comes
with my e-mail client, thunderbird. It does a very good job, except I have to
download all the messages before I can filter them. I'm tired of waiting
several minutes to download 300 to 500 messages of which 10% are actual
messages to me plus 40% or so list messages leaving 50% junk. Never mind what
it's like if I take a day or two break from my computer for whatever reason.

Previous to this, I had my ISP's spam filter on. It was nice in that I then
did not have to download the spam. It was placed in a junk folder on the
server. But I had to use the web interface if I ever needed to look in this
folder for false positives and there where several of these a week. And it was
a real pain to page through all the junk, 50 messages at a time, trying to find
a message I knew had been sent but I had not received.

So, other then recruiting some of the more violent members of this list to form
a vigilantly party and hunt down spammers to hang them from 25 foot flagpoles
by their private parts, what might I do that does not require me to go get some
kind of systems certification?

[Oh my, that was one sentence! Please don't let my high school English teacher
see it.]

Thanks for tolerating my spam venting.
