I think this entire time he felt he was doing all this battling to "keep his promise" So if that thought of mine is true then I do not see him as trying to stab at the parents. Now if he was doing this battle all this time for other reasons then perhaps it is a stab at them. Now that would in my opinion be one vengeful guy.
