Nathan I have a sense of where you're coming from on the weight issue, although the remainder of what seems to have been a bastard of a year has no equivalent in my life. However, I CAN HELP YOU with your weight.
You may or may not be familiar with the Body-for-LIFE program. I lost over 20lb fat and added nearly 12lb muscle on this program from Jan-Apr this year and I am back on it again now to get fit for the Aussie summer. I HIGHLY recommend looking at this program to see if you are prepared to make the sometimes difficult commitment it takes to do. Rest assured that if you do, you will never look back! The best thing about this program is that despite it taking a lot of willpower, it REALLY works without weird diets, drugs or excessive exercise (I train hard no more than an hour a day, although I do other exercise as a part of "family activities" like walking, rollerblading, tough football, etc.).
