Dear lord, we should hope there's no welding involved. There probably would need to be some soldering. But, soldering really isn't that hard.
I haven't done it, but I've talked to people that have. (My tub is mint green...believe me, I've thought aboutit.) I hear that it's a lot of fun to take a sledgehammer to that old cast iron and watch it shatter.
