I have to agree with the concensus here...

A PC would probably do best for this

Other than that, the Zelda or Final Fantasy games rule for RPGs, but if you
want "world domaination" type games, then the Civilisation games on the PC
(don't go for the console versions)

If you want the RPGs, Zelda is Nintendo only, the better ones currently are
on the N64 (now out of production, but you can still buy them), FF on PSX,
but the latest one is PS2
