Clinical depression can't be treated by shopping or watching TV. These can 
help for the occasional "blues" that we all get, but clinical depression is 
a disease that requires real treatment. (first step is knowing the 
difference between the two).

You'll get dozens of different suggestions depending upon the persons 
viewpoints...are they behaviorists, biologists, humanists, etc etc.

Generally speaking, i think a combination of behavioral techniques and 
medication tends to be the most affective treatment.
