Everyone's giving some veyr good advise, although I don't think that
using firearms is practical.

Here's my bit, if you're considering psychotherapy, look at Cognitive
Therapy (ask the person what they follow) - its been found to be the
most effective, as good as psychoactive drugs used for depression.

Other things you may want to try, pay attention to your thoughts. We
all have habitual thought patterns. When you're depressed these
usually are negative, self depreciating etc. These create and
reinforce feelings of depression and worthlessness. Something that
helps is to actively dispute these or do things that are incompatible
with those thoughts.

There's a lot more, but that can be a starter.
