But that's exactly my point. The Dems and the whiners at the CIA have plenty to
complain about when a leak comes from the White House, but when the leak comes
from the CIA itself, they say nothing. What has been going on at the CIA for
four years is a concerted campaign of leaks intended to damage the White House
and subvert the democratic process (whereby elected officials, not spooks and
analyst wonks at Langley, determine foreign policy).

Apparently someone in the White House got fed up with the leaks, they found
something legitimately wrong with Wilson's story, i.e. nepotism by Valerie
Wilson and false public statements by Joe Wilson, and they decided to stick it
to both the Wilsons and the CIA. Personally, I believe that if a crime was
committed, the person responsible should be charged and fired. But how to
figure out who the culprit is? The President isn't going to fire someone just
because the Dems want him fired. He will want some proof of criminal wrongdoing.

I bet the only two people on the planet who know the source of the leak are
Judith Miller and the leaker. I don't think Karl Rove, Scooter Libby, Matt
Cooper, or Bob Novak have any idea who leaked the story. I suspect that the
culprit leaked it to Miller, who checked with someone else at the White House
(maybe Libby), and I think she also shared the story with Novak and Cooper,
perhaps indirectly, but there you have it. All of which is why Miller is
sitting in jail on contempt charges and Rove, Libby, Cooper and Novak are
enjoying the summer in Washington, DC.

So before you jump all over the President for condoning wrongdoing, let's take
a step back and see if anyone can figure out:

1. whether there was in fact a crime committed
2. who committed it

I think that's what the President has been waiting for all along.
