I think her point is that she feels as though her son bought into Bush's lies (many Americans did, most of them still do). Her son did what he thought was right based on the lies the Bush administration used to justify the war. Had she or her son been aware of the truth her son may not have re-enlisted. And therefore would probably be alive today.
I haven't paid much attention to the whole situation but that is what I got out of what little I have heard or read. It does seem to me as though she is expanding her opinions and statements and that is taking away from what I perceived as the original message. However, what does she really expect to accomplish by meeting Bush? It's a silly pursuit that will accomplish nothing. She can say nothing to change Bush's mind, the death of her son or her present situation. Bush isn't going to be shamed into meeting with her so what is she hoping to accomplish? If not for setting a bad precedent (big if), I think Bush should meet with her. Five minutes no cameras. Sorry your son died, but those things happen in war. Then a few minutes of administration justification for the actions in Iraq. Let her say her piece and leave. Then what? The whole thing goes away. She gets on the news talk shows for 3 days saying Bush fed me the same crap he's been feeding everyone. No news there and the whole thing goes away. It might be prudent to have a White House camera man there so that if she makes bogus claims there is documentation of what really happened. >>>> -----Original Message----- From: Michael Dinowitz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The anti-war and anti-bush movement has found itself an idol in Cindy Sheehan. What can be worth more politically than a grieving mother? So what if she sprouts out conspiracy theories about a America going to war with Iraq because of Israel. So what if her story does not check out exactly as she states it. The fact that she's a grieving mother should be enough. But wait? What's this about her son re-enlisting voluntarily? What's this about him volunteering for the duty in which he was killed? I guess if you hate bush enough you'll ignore the words that this woman says, you'll ignore the actions of her son and only see her as she wants to be seen, an idol against bush. I had to put up with someone on another list sprouting out how ashamed she was because I reject Sheehan. I'm ashamed that she's stayed silent in the face of Sheehan's lies.
