But Michael, who appointed the director of FEMA? Who appointed the
secretary of Homeland security?

Do you think that the commander-in-chief's response to this event was
quick enough and forceful enough and showed us that he had a handle on
it or even cared? Do you think the President did a good job so far?

I agree that all the BS about "global warming is his fault" is just
plain wrong, and I think there is plenty of blame and SHAME to go
around on this one, especially in the person of the governor of
Louisiana, but Bush is definitely where the buck stops.

If he had reacted as he did with the 9/11 terror attacks, then I think
we would not be looking at him (yet) in the chain of blame. If he had
reacted at all, his partisans would still be with him. But his staying
on vacation, his attendance of the fund raiser in CA, Condi's shoe
buying trip to NYC all shows that either they weren't aware of the
seriousness of the situation (when the entire nation was glued to
their tvs and were aware) or that they just did not care. Either way
it is not a confidence booster.

And I think he is not helped this time by everyone in his
administration adhering to the Bush Administration tactic of denying
anything is wrong, and constantly congratulating each other on how
well they all are performing. This time it even sounds insane to the
half of the country who voted for him.
