That's  only when you use it to justify stupid policy.  For example,
"Well Clinton did X so X-1 is ok too."

There's an old saying, a liar thinks everybody is lying to them. 
Well, you think everybody has the same undying devotion to Mr. Clinton
that you have for Mr. Bush.  Therefore you try to justify his stupid
moves by invoking Mr. Clinton.

It's possible not to be in love with either; to feel both made/make
policy mistakes.  It's just in Mr. Clinton's case his mistakes ruin a
dress whereas Mr. Bush's kill thousands of Americans.
