Personally my issue with most right-to-lifers is the lack of compromise and hypocrisy. +) "Abortion is bad" is an easy sell. Gruss is right, most everyone would agree with that. However they fail to compromise: "Abortion is a sin!" and (in classic "if God doesn't like it then neither should government") they want to make it illegal. No abortion is good, ever no matter what the circumstances. No person that would ever consider an abortion can be good, no matter what the circumstances. +) Now... Abortion is a sin, but dammit - so is sex. So while we hate abortion we also won't abide any sort of birth control to help control it. Organizations that provide education about birth control should not get government money. They are evil. Sex is bad and "safe sex" just promotes it. There's no middle ground - abstinence until marriage and then sex for procreation. No matter than this doesn't actually address the problem at at - it's God's and sin is sin. (I've been ridiculed by fundamentalist Christians for having a vasectomy. They feel that the only really I had it was so that I could have more sex with my wife without risking another pregnancy... and they're right. But they don't like it.) Of course the hierocracy comes in when you see how they treat life in other scenarios. Pro-lifers are nearly always pro-death penalty. They're for the war in Iraq. They're not "pro-life" - they're pro (an interpretation of) God. Period. There's no room for compromise because it's a matter of faith and "live and let live" isn't, apparently, close enough to the front of the Bible. If you can't compromise you can't address an issue rationally. If you can't address an issue rationally you can't solve it. And if you can't solve an issue you get what we have today.
