here's my problem with it all...

i am human (all jokes aside)
you are human (unless you are a bot)

have you EVER heard voices? (minus the late night all night toke
session, or white blotter)
have you EVER seen the skies part, and all of a sudden someone starts
talking and hands
you a rock with some inscriptions on it?
have you EVER just felt like someone was selling you some ole bullshit
just to get you to perform better in society?

i spent the better part of my life in the catholic world, HARDCORE. i
was an altar boy, i was a catholic school student, my mother was a nun
for chrissakes! (Before she met my dad, well, she decided after about
8 years that she wanted to have a family...met my dad, fresh outta 2nd
tour of vietnam, married in 8 weeks and he took her to germany where
they had me while he was stationed there)

anyway, for the life of me, i cannot wrap my head around the whole
blind faith thing. those people were only human. those people were
just like us, with some different clothes, but no iPOD (poor souls),
and different hair cuts, and probably a lot less hygienic, but
regardless, they were just like us. i think things were probably
REALLY effed up in society they were kinda coming of age, and decided
that the whole way they were living was REALLY wrong, and decided
"look, if we dont come up with some good rules, and tell everyone that
a supreme being told us to do this" we are all going to end up killing
each other and screwing each others wives, and stealing each others
shit... and they knew that wasnt good.

funny part is... lots of different societies needed a way to bring
this all in... together in many different styles, many different
doctrines, KINDA the same message (Some really off the wall tweaks out
there in some places) but generally the same thing. so, does this
"EVERY CULTURE HAS SOMETHING THEY BELIEVE IN" universal desire to
believe in a higher power to explain all the "at the time"
unexplainable stuff seem coincidental? does it seem divine? do you
see it as inevitable in any culture since there REALLY is something up
there (or down there, if thats your flavor)?

i mean. i just have a hard time with it. im quite spiritual. i
believe in karma, i believe in what i can see, i believe in what i can
feel, and i just dont feel the bible, the torah, the quran, the old
testament... i can sorta stomache the new testament, as it seems to be
a lot less speculation and quite a bit more historical stuff... i tend
to side with buddhism, as it really makes sense. its not too far out
there in its beliefs... it has done more for me in this stage of my
life than catholicism did for me, ever, i think.

to me, and i know this might hurt, but whats the diff between the
people who believed in any of the prophets in history and the
raelians... at the time, im sure they were looked at as a little
radical, a bit out there, a cult if you will... they "the prophets
(jesus, mohammed, gautama buddha, jain, yahweh) just had staying
power, and their "beliefs" just kept going...

its like, how does a tribe in africa worship a tree, as their "God" or
most holy power, believe what they believe in, NEVER talk to another
human being about their belief, handle when a radical evangelist tell
them that they are going to hell if they dont believe in "The Lord
Jesus Christ and all that he has done, PRAISE THE LORD" i mean,
really. come on.

isnt it all just one big message "Treat this, as you desire to be
treated, and you will be a good person" really. it applies
EVERYWHERE, in EVERY CASE, unless i guess you area a cutter, and like
to be cut, well... toots, hold your razorblade your side of the fence,
im over here!

sorry.

im sick, and the medicine is causing diarrhea of the mouth instead.

:) tw
