I wouldn't say unusual, just appropriate to fit the situation.  With it
being a private school I feel they should be able to set whatever rules they
want.  If the parents don't like it, they can send their kids elsewhere.  If
it were a public school, I would be all kinds of ticked off if my kids went
there (if I had kids).
