Heh, point taken. In a nutshell he's got the perfect storm of support
from the Religious Right, the war mongers, the business lobby, the
mindless Rush/Hannity/Fox News set, and the rich. All at a time when
99% of the Democrats are morons.

And the fact that people look up to him is indicative of a new trend
of hate-the-smart-people. There was a time (50s, 60s, 70s) when the
average person aspired to be intellectual and intellectuals regularly
weighed in on public policy.

Mr. Bush's popularity is a product of a full swing away from valuing
intelligence. Many baby boomers and some GenXers have taken to
outsourcing their thinking to Rush or Fox. It's positively Orwellian.

And it's not just happening with politics. It's happening with money
too. More Americans today own stock than at any other time, yet fewer
Americans than ever are direct owners. That is, Americans are
outsourcing their owership, just like their thinking, to middle
managers who reap the rewards while they wonder why their portfolio is
so slow to grow.

RESULT: a widening gap between the rich and the poor. If you're a
manager (money manager or executive management) you're getting richer,
but if not you're getting poorer.

You hear all this talk of how great the economy is doing, yet the
consumer price index is down and the average American is worried. If
the economy is doing so great why are people worried? Because the
spoils of the good economy are going to the rich while the cost of
living (petrol, gas, milk, bread) is rising for the average consumer.

Warren Buffet's net worth has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, yet he
pays half the taxes he did 20 years ago, and probably less than you
(source: Fortune Magazine).

Dana and Larry might say the solution is for the government to start
doling out money via minimum wage or some other sort of program. I
say the solution is capitalism, but the flaw in my plan is that
capitalism requires the average consumer to supply the capital and act
as a manager. They don't seem interested in doing that anymore.

*crash* <soap box collapses> //...gruss crawls off
