Just as a slight mention here, Lieberman was not someone I would want to
represent me as a Jew nor as a President. Why? Because he touted himself as
a religious Jew yet broke a few things both in action and in words. He
would have been and was almost the representative of Judaism to the world.
Not non-religious Jews, not Reform Jews and Conservative Jews. He was seen
as representing Orthodox (or modern Orthodox) Jews. He failed in my opinion.
On the other hand I have no problem with Bloomberg as Mayor. He's not
religious, doesn't present himself as being so and while he is Jewish, he
isn't being looked at as 'representing' Judaism.
Because of all that, I would not be very happy with an Orthodox Jew as
President. The job would force him to make decisions against religious
standings, act in ways that were against Judaism and basically show that
power was more important than God. This goes beyond Jewish presidents to
any person in power. If you can not be true to your self in a situation
then you should not be in that situation.
