Interesting. We don't have the KKK here, but we do have various racist political parties and movements etc. These aren't really the people I am referring to though. I'm sure we all know people who are racist in certain respects. This doesn't mean they would condone violence towards blacks, for example, but in their minds, a black life is worth less, somehow, than a white one. They probably wouldn't even consider themselves racist. But there are aspects of their beliefs in which they are.
Just as an aside, Beth's definition of society, whilst not the only one, would suggest that people = society therefore if people are racist, then so is society. will -----Original Message----- From: Nick McClure [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 17 December 2001 18:21 To: CF-Community Subject: RE: I'll never understand... I do not think that American society is racist. I think people are racist and they are the ones who are vocal. Just a month or two ago there was a KKK rally here. They are vocal, they tell people what they think. They are ignorant SOBs who should be ignored. But they were exercising their right of Free Speech. People came down to protest and laugh at them. People are racists, they are judgmental, and they are temperamental, and they contribute to society. That does not make society racist. At 05:39 PM 12/17/2001 +0000, you wrote: >Not that I know of.
