I totally agree and, as far as I know, the burden is theirs to check
the car before they buy so you are in the clear had you mentioned
anything or not.  The fact that you did is one more for you in my
opinion.

Further, if you didn't negotiatate the trade-in price first (before
negotiating the new car) you've been pre-screwed.

This sounds to me like they're trying to take advantage of your
honesty and so I 100% agree with Kevin.
