I had dish, switched to directv and have loved it ever since. When I first switched, I noticed a better picture quality with directv. They also had more of the channels I wanted (lots of discovery channels) for a lower price. Probably the biggest thing was that they have over dish is Tivo. I've played with friends dish pvr's and they just don't compare with tivo at all.
