Exactly, I have a Jeep with all all terrain tires on it, 4WD and lug tires
mean nothing on ice except at very low speeds. I have twice the options to
grab traction.

Yeah, I have a 4x4 SUV and still don't drive like that. I've always had a
4x4 and learned very quickly that just because it has 4 wheel drive, at
least on of the wheens still has to have traction for it to do much good.

The 4x4 does help in most situations, however there is still a line that
when you cross it you forfeit the benefits.

2. SUVs that are exempt from the laws of physics.

I left work at noon yesterday to get the kids from school. Since I have
a rear-wheel-drive car, I took it pretty slow (35-50mpg). All these
assholes (male and female) in their SUVs and 4x4s just had to pass me
because I was *not* driving a similar vehicle. (I was slowing them down
from their important lives and who am I to keep their SUV in a
slow-moving line?)

I wonder, when they end up in a ditch around a curve, if they actually
thought that their vehicle is immune to physics? Sure a 4x4 can get
started faster, but when on ice, it definitely takes longer to stop than
my lightweight car. Also, a 4x4 won't help much when cornering on ice
at highway speeds.

Assholes.
