Because Israel keeps getting attacked by its neighbors. BTW, India, Pakistan, and NK all have nukes already. NNP is all about keeping other countries from getting nukes. The US government basically didn't talk to the Indian government for about two years after they acquired nukes, but essentially, if some country is determined to get them, there isn't a whole lot anyone can do to stop it. >Because this country happens to be an American Ally? The US undoubtedly would prefer that Israel not have nukes, just as we would prefer that India not have nukes. But once a country has nukes (even if they aren't saying) there is nothing more to talk about, and it does not prevent the US from being friendly with those countries in the future.
