Sometimes, when phrases like "freedom's cause grows stronger".. I would sometimes ask "who's freedom?".. and "who's cause".. It is possible for a person to speak objectivly in such a way (like in reference to freedom) but obviously sometimes it's part of a campaign to push an agenda. For the most part, nations act based on their interest, which is the motivator behind whatever the cause is. I don't mean this comment to attack Mrs Rice.... it's just to express my displeasure with the political propaganda coming out of politicians in general. (from various nations) I honestly hope that the best case scenario (whatever it is) presents itself in Iraq for the Iraqies and also the Americans grately affected by the conflict.
