Not that you didn't understand it obviously, but that there is any controversy about it baffles me.
If you read anything by most scientists that formed the basic nature and understanding of science, for the most part they were religious men. Read the science books from the early centuries. Read the philosophers. Read anything by the members of the Royal Society of London . Read Darwin. Read Einstein. They did not see a conflict between science and religion, but a complementary relationship.
