I saw that. I did not engage as I was not sure if their misreading was due to people not having the time to read/write complicated thoughts or what. Let's see if I understood you:
The post-Katrina fiasco was an illustration of what happens when people with few or no resources lose the ones they had. In other words, the people who has no car to get into and no stockpile of food. A day or so into Katrina it didn't matter if you had cash as the stores were for the most part closed. Ergo if you wanted to feed your kids you had to go into a store and take stuff. I do not excuse the people taking televisions. But in that sort of apocalyptic scenario I suspect most people here would do something not too different. OK so you extrapolate from here to say that people who depend on government support will become violent if this support is withdrawn. Right? I don't think I agree with you, because the withdrawal will not happen in this same catastrophic manner and people would have a chance to make alternate plans ot have plans made for them :) At least one would hope so. But it is true that some of the scariest people in inner city DC are the people, mostly young teenaged boys, who are smart enough to see the ways they are getting screwed by the system. And some of them figure that if they don't matter then nobody else does either. So I don't agree with you exactly but I don't think you position is idiotic. Bear in mind that the people who said it was also think there is no relationship between the American and the French revolutions :) On 1/11/06, Chesty Puller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Thanks, Dana.
