It's a pretty fuzzy area where elective and corrective meet. If you were born a man...and decide you want to be a woman....are you "correcting" something that nature screwed up?
But where you born a male or female, that may be the question? Births are not as black and white as this 100% of the time. It is a common enough occurrence that at birth the sex of the child can not be easily and correctly determined, even with a genetic test. Nature provides a lot of variety. So what if the doctor decided you should be one way at birth that now that you are an adult you feel was very wrong. Is this still elective or corrective, at least as corrective as your knee?
