On your question, I would go with an expectorant and something like Primatene 
if that doesn't work. Chest tightness is a common reaction to chemical 
exposure. But it would be smarter to wear a mask next time. I agree that you 
should probably check on whether it is lead paint, if you are not sure. A lot 
of states require disclosure of known lead paint, but the key word there is 
known.
