It's my understanding that Primatine isn't something to use unless you have
Asthma.  As an asthmatic I have used it in emergencies and it's not a
pleasant thing to take (compared to my prescriptions inhalers).  It really
jacks up your blood pressure and heart rate. I remember a model reportedly
dying from using it quite a few years back (Niki Taylor's sister). Now I'm
not saying you will die from it but it's generally noted that you shouldn't
take it if you do not have asthma because its side effects (heart attack)
greatly out weigh its benefits unless you just cannot breath.

Mucinex (over the counter Guafenison) may be helpful.  Its used as a
decongestant so it will break up the mucus so you can cough it. Primatine (I
believe)  simply dilates the bronchial passage ways so you can breath which
doesn't really help with the congestion.
