Albuterol definitely jacks up the blood pressure but in my experience its not anywhere close to as much as Primatine does. And again its a risk versus reward. When you will soon die because you cannot breath the potential risk of a heart attack is grossly outweighed.
Albuterol and other fast acting/rescue inhalers are really not a treatment but a symptom suppressor. It dilates the airways so you can breath but doesn't treat the inflammation. Treatment would be a steroid (as Dana suggested) like Advair or Singlair. These prevent the attacks from happening by keeping the muscles around the airways from constricting and treating the otherwise always present inflammation inside the airways. I would definitely recommend asking the Dr. about one of these because they really do help a great deal.
