In a news story I heard this morning they have credible evidence that he knew that he was participating in bin Laden's "Jihad", which has always been against the US. Apparently he met with bin Laden and knew months in advance about the suicide squads, whether through rumor or report. Granted, that's what I heard on the way into the office today on the radio.
