There's an argument to be made that having more X is not the same as having more value of X. for example, it used to be that eating a lot of fish was a sign that you were poor. Now, fish is expensive. Similarly, having more dollars than you did, say, 10 years ago may or may not mean you have more buying power, depending on inflation, etc. > And I wonder what useless goods he's talking about....the light bulb?
