I'm talking to recruiters about jobs in DC.

================

Clarification -- the recruiter who asked me about the $40-45 job
wasn't suggesting a job in DC. She had one in richmond, but whe was a
jerk in general. She called me about a job with all MS tools (C/C++,
C#, .NET, VB) and when I told her they wouldn't want me she asked me
what I was looking for. So I told her, CF jobs $70k or above ($80k+ in
DC). She asked me how much I made at my last job so I told her, which
is the point at which she said "and what makes you think you're worth
$70k?" ... I probably didn't answer the question the way she wanted,
but damn, what am I supposed to say? "I'm more powerful than a
locomotive! I repel bullets with my nipples!" ... I've done the market
research, and I know what my peers are making and I'm pricing myself
not only competitively but _below_ what my peers are making. Anyway,
she called me back a few minutes after hanging up with the $40-45k job
after I'd told her I was looking for $70k and when I told her no, she
said "at what point do I just not bring jobs to you"? and I had to
tell her for the 2nd time, "$70k". She really pissed me off... Was
back to 6 months or so ago when I interviewed with a company in
Rockville and the russion manager said "tsk, tsk, it's a big jump from
there to $80k", and then realized recently that the guy was feeding me
a fucking line, even though he knew I was a bargain because getting a
bargain wasn't good enough for him. Maybe I should just tell people
that Site Manageware paid me $80k -- except that I left there because
I wasn't earning enough.

Sorry, I'm ranting again... I'll stop with the self-pitty now, I
promise.
