Deuteronomy: Chapter 17, of the King James Bible, instructs the devout to
stone to death those who have worshipped false God's.

So.....should we ask the question: Is Christianity inherently a violent
religion?

Taking literal translations from an ancient text and holding them up as
"proof", is the same mistake a creationist would make in holding up the
Genesis creation story as "proof" of our beginnings.

Are ancient Jewish texts devoid of any such statements that require a more
moderate interpretation???
