Article said (iirc) that they lit the car on fire with it... A molotov cocktail is just a glass bottle with more gas -- bigger fire... but it's the same idea. But yes, the person didn't have to be jewish... I'm just saying, a riot is a riot -- the event takes on a life of its own regardless of who started it or how it was started and you end up with people doing all kinds of crazy shit, like looting. The fact that one particular riot didn't escalate to deaths isn't any kind of comment on the people who started it, it's just what happened.
