NO IT WASN'T In 1999 there was a meeting between Wissam al-Zahawie, a top Iraqi official, went to Niger. This was the Iraqi official in charge of all nuclear matters. In 1981 Iraq did acquire uranium from Niger.
Zahawie claims the trip was to convince Niger to break the embargo on flights to Baghdad, as Niger had previously done with Libya.
